Leon McCarron

In early 2014 Leon McCarron and Tom Allen went to Iran to try and follow the longest river in the country from source to sea. They travelled on foot and by folding kayak, and later by bicycle through the mountains. Their winter journey was an exploration of the landscapes that the river took them through, but also an insight into the wonderfully friendly and often misunderstood peoples and culture of Iran.

Leon McCarron is an adventurer, filmmaker and author. He has cycled around the world, walked 3000 miles across China, trekked through the Empty Quarter desert and ridden a horse across Argentine Patagonia. He has made three films and one TV series, and his first book - The Road Headed West - is an Amazon Top 10 Bestseller.
