From One Extreme to Another

7th November 2017

Martin Pailthorpe

The Speaker

In a career spanning over 30 years, TV producer Martin Pailthorpe has filmed in some of the most challenging environments on Earth.

Martin will tell us how he cut his teeth making several series with bushcraft guru Ray Mears, made the film that launched the stellar career of Bear Grylls,  marshalled a team of 20 filming one of the most deadly climbing seasons on Everest, discovered the secrets of the world's most deadly dive site, and marooned Aron '127 Hours' Ralston on a desert island for - 127 Hours!

This talk takes us from the icy wilds of Siberia and the Canadian Arctic to the searing desert heat of Australia and Africa, via the slopes of Mount Everest and the tropical rainforests of Central and South America; revealing the logistics, dangers and rewards of filming in these extreme environments.
