Guildford Travel Club Presents

The Mediterranean World

6th February 2018

Dr. Simon Butler

The Speaker

The Mediterranean has been one of the most favoured and culturally dynamic parts of the world since earliest times. In this talk we travel its length and breadth, visiting the landscapes, cultures and civilisations that have shaped the region over thousands of years.

It is an epic journey of spectacular beauty, remarkable heritage, strange mysteries and profound insights, and it becomes the very story of humankind itself.

With a background in archaeology, Simon has led numerous tours to the Mediterranean region and now runs his own travel company specialising in archaeology and history tours. He believes that, like a foreign country, the past is full of difference and interest, and adds purpose and meaning to our travels.
