In a change to our originally published programme we spend an evening with Chris Aslan Alexander, where he recounts his experience of living in Khiva, Uzbekistan for seven years, starting a silk carpet workshop in conjunction with UNESCO, shopping for natural dyes in Afghanistan, negotiating domestic life with a local family, and becoming the largest employer in town other than the government. He'll also talk about his fall from grace and black-listing from the country and describe highlights for the travellers today.
Find out more about Chris and perhaps take a trip with him by looking at his website.
