Guildford Travel Club Presents

Climbing the Seven Summits

5th January 2021

Jo Bradshaw

The Speaker

Jo is a former height-hating and risk-averse Business Advisor who in 2008 swapped business suits for high altitude boots. She now works her way around the world as an Expedition Leader and as an Outdoor Instructor assessing and teaching the Duke of Edinburgh's Award. She has scaled two 8000m peaks including Everest, having survived the Nepal earthquake whilst on the mountain in 2015. Jo has successfully summited six of the seven summits, a challenge that she is using to raise funds for children's mental health charity Place2Be, with number seven, Carstensz Pyramid, to hopefully be completed in October 2020.

Jo’s talk will walk us through the unique differences of each of these seven mountains, each posing their own particular demands including perceived over-crowding, earthquakes, challenging locations and threats from climate change.
