and some lesser-known  ones

2nd March 2021

Andrew Appleyard

The Speaker

Andrew Appleyard has been in the adventure travel business for 25 years. A fully qualified archaeologist by profession having been a post-graduate from UCL, he has excavated archaeological sites In Israel, Lebanon, Malta and the UAE and was on the Harvard staff at Ashkelon for five years. He has designed and led archaeological tours across the Middle East and further afield, even cycling across Syria in the spring of 2014.

Andrew will take us on a journey across the Mediterranean and beyond, exploring the incredible diversity available to explorers. Following the events of 2020 Andrew expects to see a real resurgence of travel late in 2021 and some places will be quieter than they have been in the past. He says: “If you’re adventurous, go soon and you’ll avoid the crowds.”
