The Trans-America Bicycle Trail was conceived in 1973 to celebrate America’s bicentenary and opened in 1976.
Join John as he cycles the route in 2015, crossing the USA from Yorktown, Virginia, on the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean in Oregon, a distance of around 4300 miles. The trail crosses the Blue Ridge Mountains in the east, the Ozark Hills and the Ohio and Mississippi rivers in the mid-West before tackling the mighty Rockies, the Bitteroots and the Cascades in the west.
