Guildford Travel Club Presents

Success and Failure in Cold Places

21st January 2025

Jo Bradshaw

The Speaker

Success and failure in cold places are split by a thin blue line. My preferred happy place is high and cold but just cold on its own will do nicely too. I have been fortunate in my travels as an Expedition Leader and mountaineer to enjoy some stunning cold places and with that comes success and failure for many different reasons.

During my talk I will take you mountaineering on Everest as temperatures drop to -40C and the ground gets very wobbly. We head across the globe to a slightly lower but equally cold Denali in Alaska where the sun never set. We will then head to an ultra-marathon in Arctic Sweden, with a full complement of oxygen, and down to Antarctica for three totally different visits to the White Desert.
