Guildford Travel Club Presents

Conservation and Adventure

21st April 2026

Tom Hicks

The Speaker

Tom believes that the conservation of our wildlife and environment is the most pressing issue facing us today.  His aim is to explore the natural world whilst raising funds for wildlife conservation.

Lenin Peak, or Ibn Sina, stands at 7,134 metres above sea level on the border of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.  It is one of the fabled ‘Snow Leopard’ mountains in the former USSR and only a handful of Brits have stood on its powerful summit. Tom attempted to climb Lenin Peak in 2024.

This evening he will share his story and give us tips on how to climb our own ‘mountains’.

Note that the talk follows the AGM.
