Socials and social activities have always featured prominently in
Guildford Travel Club, particularly in the first 5
years of the Club, when there were almost as many social activities as
talks.
Socials have included:
- Wine and cheese evenings
- Dinner dances
- Christmas celebrations including carols, customs from other lands, folk dancing, magic displays, quizzes
- Meals at ‘foreign’ restaurants – Indian, Mexican, Spanish, South American
- Social evenings for the Guildford Festival of Arts
- Photo/slide competitions of members’ travels at social evenings
- Folk bands, folk dancing, Peruvian pipe band
There have been many country focused evenings – with food and drink, films, talks, quizzes:
