Walking Group

The Club had a very active walking group for nearly 30 years, with a regular programme of walks of varying degrees of difficulty, with up to 40 walkers on some occasions.

The fist organiser was Geoffey Hollis, who organised walks from 1967 until his sudden death in 1975. The Club raised money to put a seat on Leith Hill in his memory.

Zeala Howe took over the organisation of the walks and they continued until 1996.

Some walks were billed as 'Tough Tramps' often over 15 miles:

Other more gentle walks and rambles were billed as ‘In search of…’:
The Walking Group’s Christmas lunch in 1977 was held at Newlands Corner with a 3 course meal costing £2.50
